SPOT - PERSONAL TRACKER
SPOT’s are designed to work with total satellite-based communications, meaning that the unit should be able to function virtually anywhere in the world, even in areas that do not have any mobile coverage whatsoever. SPOT users can be tracked via Google Maps by authorized users if they wish, and can also send out a variety of messages to friends, family or emergency response personnel using one of the three integrated communications buttons on the device. Checking in to let others know that you’re OK, sending a non-emergency request for assistance, or even sending a 911 message to a G.E.O.S. Emergency Response Center to get help on the way are all possible with SPOT.
A NOTE ABOUT SPOT SERVICE FEES: When you purchase your new SPOT Personal Tracking unit from AdventureTRAK, you will only be charged for the unit itself, along with any applicable taxes and shipping charges. All annual and optional service fees will be paid separately through the secure SPOT service website, where you will register your unit and create your online account.
SPOT Annual Service Fee: $99.99 per year. Required to activate your SPOT unit. Gives you access to "OK Check" "HELP" and "9-1-1" function buttons.
SPOTcasting: $49.99 per year Optional Fee. Enables the automatic tracking feature known as "SPOTcasting" or "Track Progress." Your SPOT will have the ability to send automated signals every 10 minutes, without the need for a manual push of the button. Helpful for friends and family to track your progress from home, or if you become disabled/unconscious and cannot press the button to send for help.
G.E.O.S. Search & Rescue Benefit: $7.95 per year (optional fee) if purchased during your initial SPOT registration ($150 thereafter). Provides $100,000 worth of emergency rescue coverage to offset the costs that would normally be incurred with a helicopter extraction or other SAR-related activities.
